ang ang ang!

I made Chocolate Peppermint Sandwiches with Nad on Monday! Recipe here.
They sure didn't look this good when we were making them. We were wondering what we did wrong because it was all goopy and hard to handle before it went in the oven. We were in a bit of a time crunch and didn't chill it nor use the can-tube like the recipe called for. I do recommend both steps, though.. if I were to make it again in the future (very probable). Oh and we didn't want to buy shortening (it has the same chemical makeup as plastic) so we replaced it with more unsalted butter.  Luckily, I thought to use a Campbell's soup can to cut them out of their ugly shape after they were baked.
Whala! Brought some to work to share w/ coworkers. Thanks to Nad, it turned out quite well (she made me measure). Nad suggested making it again for the holiday season and using red or green food colouring when we make the peppermint icing.
A, M, and I made an Italian-inspired dinner at my house last night which was very easy and delicious (well, M cooked it all, actually lol)!
Cooking up some boneless skinless chicken thighs seasoned with oregano, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
Insalata Caprese (I've always wanted to buy fresh mozzarella from Wholefoods in ball form bobbing in water!) The dark green bits is M's basil she ground and froze from her garden. I need to have this more often.
M made this stuffed eggplant at home (recipe HERE) and brought it over to bake. Drool-worthy........ it was excellent. Topped with a mix of Greek cheese and Parmesan.
We mixed our pasta, broccoli, and chicken with pesto sauce (pine-nut free for my brother) and enjoyed our dinner with a light glass of white wine.
Mmmm I think I'll have the leftovers for lunch...
They ended up sleeping over and let's just say that a queen sized bed is not big enough for three 5'6+ girls lol!
No time for update unfortch. I've got one more blog post to finish for work and I have to pack before badminton tonight! Leaving tomorrow morning at 8:50AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it. I'll be back before you know it.

Demonstrating Strength

Apologize

Defer to others

Avoid shortcuts

Tell the truth

Offer kindness

Seek alliances

Volunteer to take the short straw

Choose the long-term, sacrificing the short

Demonstrate respect to all, not just the obviously strong

Share credit and be public in your gratitude

Risking the appearance of weakness takes strength. And the market knows it.

Guess Where I Shopped Today?

(UGH why are my pictures so grainy?????)
But yes. The Bay Downtown :) Check out their new White Space on the 2nd floor. I'm kinda quite impressed.
Spacious fitting rooms.
My typical OTD (outfit of the day). Black... black... black...
 Hey look, I'm suddenly 30 yrs old+!
Don't I look like some Japanese ajumma who works at a department store selling fragrances?? lol
From Halston Heritage. Trying out the one-shoulder look (again). This looked really weird in person, but pretty decent in a picture. Pictures are deceiving.
Update soon! I gotta sleep!!

Thinking Ahead

Kind of wish I could make it to their Gossip performance on Oct 23rd...

I need to hang out around Yaletown more often! It was my first time actually getting off at Yaletown Roundhouse last Thursday. Quite a different, dare I say ('cause I've never been there) "Montreal"-feel?? Very stylish people. Observed tall tall tall guy wearing black skinnies and black oxford-laced Aldo heels. He wasn't very good at walking in them (at all.... his ankles buckled and it almost looked painful. He really needs a few lessons from Miss Jay), but he would have been a great stand-still model - especially with the angles on his face.

Currently inspired to simplify my life and live more minimalist-like... owning less JUNK and things I don't need. Less stuff, more substance... which definitely starts with my closet. There are a few things (dresses, specifically) that I'm holding on just 'cause I've only worn them a few times and they're perfectly good.
Hmm but how is this going to work with my love of clothes/accessories/bags/products/magazines? I think I can still get them, but to keep ones that I really don't wear (and can't see myself wearing ever again) out. Got to get rid of my PJs sigh.

Even though my 3.5 week trip is in less than a week and even though I'm looking forward to it like no tomorrow (i'm filling up my Athina Moleskine with lots of things to see/do), I'm already dreaming about my next few trips!

Thinking:
October: Korea (6 days) and Japan (13 days) and possibly HK (4days) for 23ish days
And, don't know when, but I want to go to Montreal (3 or 4 days), Toronto (3 or 4 days), and NY (5 or 6 days) (one trip, possibly 1.5ish weeks). I think Fall would be great - might have to wait until 2012. I think I can wait.
Morocco, Portugal, Italy (1 trip, 3 weeks) - possibly London...
Australia (1.5-2 weeks)
India and Sri Lanka (2.5 weeks)
Why is the world so big..... how come everywhere is so far away... and how come it doesn't look like I'll make it back to Paris anytime soon?! Noooooooooooooooo

why does alexander wang have such greasy hair during his holts bloor st. visit? he cute and i'd love to meet him one day!

I'm obsessed with matcha. Matcha everything!!!!!!

Anyway, I was telling M how I feel very content with life right now - everything is smooth and dandy and I'm kind of sailing... but that's a bit of a "problem".. or I am going to hit into a brick wall soon enough because I'm not really challenging myself. How can I make myself better? Well, my physical state is an easy thing to point out lol. hmm maybe I should just start with one thing. Yea. Sounds like a plan...
