Mixed Textures

Lulu, I kind of dislike you right now.
I want your comme des garcons wallet and can't find it anywhere online... not on La Garconne nor SSENSE, not on Oak, Blackbird and not even on Opening Ceremony.

Weighed Down

Ahhh this is genius for those light-weight scarves that fly about in the wind! Plus, it adds that metal detail I love (and want to try)!
Thanks, Susie Bubble!

Beginning of July

Still really like this song a lot! Usher ft. will.i.am - OMG

I love the store Liberty on W. Broadway!!!
Nad, this was the bed I was talking about where the pillows take up half of the bed!
I was thinking how neat it would be to have two pendant lamps come down on either side of my bed. It would make more space for junk books, pictures, and candles on my bedside tables!
Clean, fresh, and contemporary traditional.

Spa day w/ Mommy today~ we got our eyebrows done at Silky Touch (guh, it's been 2 days over a month since I've been in last!). Then, we went to Spa Utopia in North Van (Harbourside). It's very nice inside and boy do you pay for ambiance/service. They actually pamper and wait on you.  I had their "designed for U" facial and my mom had a full body signature massage. I snuck a couple of pictures off my cell phone before the battery went kaput.

This is inside the bathroom where you get a locker with your own robe, towel, and bath sandals. There are a bunch of products for you to use, some cucumber water and lemon water, a hairdryer, a curling iron, and sanitized combs. They also have a eucalyptus steam room/sauna which was very nice.
I tried curling my hair... lol fail :( I really need practice.
Outside the change room, they have this lounge area where you can sip different teas (in mugs or champagne-type flutes!) with mint leaves and lemon slices, eat a bunch of dried nuts and fruit, and read magazines with the spa music in the background. Soothing, but I hear the spa music all day at work so kind if ineffective for me.

Then quickly chowed down some sashimi at Sushi Town in N. Van and browsed around Ginger Jar Interiors (love their outdoor furniture!!! It really makes me swoon. They have some really unique indoor pieces too but they are super pricey) + made a pit stop at home before heading over to J.Lo's place just off of Commercial Dr. I would eat out so much if I lived where she was! Almost all the restaurants on Commercial Dr. are great... and they're known for such a variety, too! Anyway, she's been working on her garden recently and invited my family over for a BBQ. Apparently it (the backyard) was a bunch of nothingness before. It's nice how lush all her neighbour's back yards are! They really spend a lot of time tending to their yards. Good company~ spoiled by good food, too. Then, at the end, her partner brought out a portable firepit which kept us really warm outside (I need to get one)!

They made this arbor!
She installed little deck lights, too! So neat. Let's go acampin' in my backyard!!

[Currently scrambling to download Hangeng's new song, My Logo. I hope it's good!!!! OH and Brown Eyed Soul has a new single out!!! Is it Christmas?]

Yup, Another One

Somebody cut up my credit card for me, please.

I'm on a self-imposed credit card ban for 2 weeks.. and I dislike using my debit card and dislike carrying around cash so hopefully this will work...

DISCIPLINE!

5, ?, 8

Kyle and Erin's 5th and 8th birthday dinner on Canada Day with Canada Day cupcakes, swimming in their heated pool, and lots of food!

Emerald didn't bring her swimsuit but she accidentally fell in part-way trying to grab the water gun from the water. She went to my Auntie Sandy for consolation (ain't too fun being partially wet in jeans and a t-shirt) and my Auntie Sandy faked-consoled her for a second and then threw her into the water, "go swim! you're wet already"! hahaha Emerald loved it.

Mischievous Triton baby spinning me in the hammock...
(hmm.. tried touching up the last picture which is why it looks so different from the others... oops)
Stay away or I'll claw you!
haha claw. That reminds me, I watched Toy Story 3 a few days ago. Pretty good, some scary scenes, some cute lines "F.A.O. my Schwarz" !!
The second before Emerald fell in...
Triton's weapon of choice #1
Then #2 (I remember thinking, really?? -- I think he downgraded....)
Then his #3 when most of the kids were drying (too late...)
Erin and Emerald doing ballet in the water. How feminine...

Birthday people! It was my grandpa's actual 80th birthday yesterday.

Double shift today. Wooooo fun. Really! OK I absolutely love serving, but July is my last month because work is a bit further than I'd like to travel nowadays and I want to free up my weekends to lounge.. 'cause I'm good at that, too haha.

WEEEEEEEKEND!!!!!

Aha!

(From Seth Godin)

A small island grows sugar cane. Many people harvest it, and one guy owns the machine that can process the cane and turn it into juice.

Who wins?

The guy with the machine, of course. It gives him leverage, and since he's the only one, he can pay the pickers whatever he likes--people will either sell it to him or stop picking. No fun being the cane picker. He can also charge whatever he likes to the people who need the cane juice, because without him, there's no juice. No fun being a baker or cook.

But now, a second machine comes to the island, and then three more. There are five processors.

Who wins?

Certainly not the guy with the first machine. He has competitors for the cane. He can optimize and work on efficiency, but pretty soon he's going to be in a price war for his raw materials (and a price war for the finished product.) Not so much fun to be the factory owner.

And then! And then one cane processor starts creating a series of collectible containers, starts interacting with his customers and providing them with custom blends, starts offering long-term contracts and benefits to his biggest customers, and yes, even begins to pay his growers more if they're willing to bring him particularly sweet and organic materials, on time. In short, he becomes a master of the art of processing and marketing cane. He earns permission, he treats different customers differently and he refuses to act like a faceless factory...

Who are you?
